Heading into the weekend, I like to reduce my net short exposure. Rather than cover shorts, I usually buy longs. This time around, I'm buying the equal-weighted Nasdaq.
As a rental position over the weekend, it's just fine.
Now, is it strange that I'm short the S&P and the Russell but long the Nasdaq? A little.
Is it strange that I'm long the Nasdaq after being short Apple? A little.
But that's why I chose the equal-weight version - to minimize the impact of Apple and the other big, bubbly tech names.
